555 Timers

I created a blinking LED with a 555 timer. I am beginning to understand the diagrams with the IC boards. I had to look at the demo several times but I began to figure it out mostly by the drawing. I need to think of things to time with my ~1.5 second blinking light. I was possibly thinking of commercials. Also I need to see how well things interface with Processing. A possible idea for the final project is some device that will interface with a processing applet.
